Hi friends! How do you feel about Valentine’s Day, because I love it! I always have. I feel like it’s such a fun holiday to celebrate with friends and of course your significant other. We have plans of going out to happy hour to one of our favorite restaurants. They have amazing food and drinks and their happy hour is very inexpensive for how nice and delicious the place is.
We normally go out to dinner or order in food and hang out and try to be sweet and romantic to each other, lol. I don’t think we have purchased an actual Valentine’s Day gift for each other in many many years because of all the holidays that are so close to v-day. After Christmas, my birthday and our anniversary we are normally all spent on gifts so we keep it chill. I wanted to round up our favorite date nights to give you some ideas not just for Valentine’s but for any occasion. We like to go out once a week and normally keep it pretty inexpensive. So here are some of our favorite date nights that we keep on repeat.
We love coffee dates especially when we take our computer and plan something fun like a trip or work on blog posts together. We take these times to communicate with each other at a cute coffee shop. I order a chai latte and a dessert, of course, and Raymond gets a machiatto. We sit, dream, plan and talk about our goals. We cherish those times and I am sure that you would love it too.
I love to try new restaurants and I’m a huge happy hour fan. Discounted drinks and apps, who doesn’t like that right? Our favorite places are usually Tex Mex but we take advantage of the discounted prices to try new restaurants we normally wouldn’t eat at like a nice steakhouse or Italian restaurant. I think this is a life hack! Nice restaurants usually have amazing happy hours and if you’re on a budget this if your chance to try them out.
Dinner & a Movie
This is the classic dinner and a movie date but man it’s our absolute favorite! A lot of people don’t like going on a date to the movies because you don’t get to talk but that’s why you have dinner first! We usually keep it casual like a burger place or pizza and then buy candy at the dollar store and sneak it in to the movies! (Shhh)
Ice Cream & a Drive Around the Neighborhood
We haven’t done this in a while but we love it especially during the holidays. We get cones from Dairy Queen, Sonic or McDonald’s and drive around really nice neighborhoods. We dream about our forever home and make up stories about people who can afford a house like that. Ha!
Ok this is not really a date night but it’s definitely a date. Not sure if you’re catching on yet, but we love food more than life. We’re always on the lookout for a new brunch spot and have ventured out more than usual lately which makes me so happy because we’ve found really good spots. Raymond surprised me one Saturday morning and said he was taking me to a brunch place and he was sure I would love it. I don’t know, but it made me so happy! He picked a spot and it was amazing. Sometimes it’s just nice for the other person to take charge of the planning. It makes it even more special.
At Home Charcuterie Board and Netlix
Raymond and I are huge homebodies and sometimes, and I do mean sometimes, we get fancy and make an awesome appetizer or snack and turn it into a date night. I love to make charcuterie boards because I love cheese and Raymond loves meat so its the best of both worlds. We pop a bottle of wine open and watch a show. We are really into Victoria right now on Amazon Prime (shout out to my brother and sister in law who actually pay for Prime, we just steal it from them…they’re the real MVP’s). This date night is cheap and cost us maybe $20 at the grocery store and we truly do enjoy it. Make something you don’t normally make and it will feel special even if you just stay home.
This one takes a bit more planning, but it’s so fun! I am not totally into sports but I do love going to a basketball game or a hockey game. We buy overly priced nachos and hot dogs and have a blast. Of course this is probably Raymond’s favorite kind of date night because he loves sports. This one can also be a little expensive but it’s a once in a while kind of date. Do you have a local baseball team? Buy tickets to that and surprise your husband/boyfriend, he’ll be really happy!
If you do give gifts for Valentine’s, here are some great options!
Thanks for reading friend and let me know what are some of your favorite date nights that you love! Happy Valentine’s Day.
